Nortani Mastani Raato !
9 beautiful nights of sheer dancing, fun and laughter! Colorful and bright ghaghra cholis, dhoti kurtaz and chhatriz, ahh such a lovely festival is this Navratri! Isn't it? People wearing colorful smiles, looking their best, ready to impress. You know I always say that I can feel the smell of the season, just few days before its arrival and people laugh at it, but I seriously do. That smell is magical, its has an iota of flirtiness, loads of naughtiness and indescribable craziness !! Its been there since years now. There was a time when I used to dance till the morning, old memorable days when late night sound system was not a problem. Those long nights with cousins and friends, too good!
Its not only about the clothes/jewellery/meeting friends part of it, mine is more towards the dancing, I romance with the lyrics of the garba. Like this one is too good " Aadha hai chandrama raaat aadhee, reh naa jaaye teree meree baat aadhe, mulaakaat aadhee". Fagaan Aayo and Hove Hove are my fav's garba's !
The music puts me into trance then my feet can't stop moving. I feel the vibrations of the sound and its truly dazzling. Some desires always remain fresh and young or may be grow younger as time passes, such is my madness for this festival. I don't understand people who do not like it or the ones who never attempt to try it. What a waste, seriously!
Somehow every year there is some story attached to my garba nights, its kind of jinxed in a way but then I straighten it ... haha! All the negative, I don't know from where and why does it come. I always have a tough day or two cause of some unexpected behavior from some people, never mind, I take it as it comes. I have given up the idea of making people understand my love for it, instead I join such hearts where the love already resides. My world stops when I begin my yearly trip for my 9 eventful nights.
Every evening when I dress up, I see a beautiful me with all the culture and traditions reflected on my face, my camera wants to click me, I smile! I love those latkanias on my ears, they look lovely with freshly washed soft hair falling on them. I prefer bigger ones for they suit my neck line. I avoid make up, its the last thing I would do.... simply hate it, just a bit of kajal, some powder and am good to go. When I reach the decorated lit up venue, I look around to find old memories, old familiar faces and all the fun. I love singing Amba Ma ni Arti, its beautiful, lot of meaning! Its called 'Jay Adhya Shakti', you must listen.
I love having 'papdi no lott' and 'baraf gola' during Navratri. After dancing with a bunch of mad people , our matching hunger pangs add to the fun of the night, we eat eat and eat! I got some great friends. The sweat of the body and the pain of the feet, they leave me with a refreshed mind and a happy heart, I sleep tight. I like it so much.
One thing very important here is to FEEL.... Now that these nights are going to end , I just don't want all the feeling to go away but I know it comes only when its the time of the 9 awesome nights. I will miss.
